• Ex-Orioles Pitcher Sammy Stewart Dies At 63

    HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. (AP) — Former Baltimore pitcher Sammy Stewart, who helped the Orioles win the 1983 World Series before falling into a life of crack cocaine addiction and arrests, has died. He was 63.
    The Henderson County Sheriff’s Office said Stewart was found dead Friday at a residence. No cause for his death had been determined as of Sunday.

  • Police Investigating After Body Pulled From Baltimore Harbor

    BALTIMORE (WJZ) — Baltimore City Police are investigating after a body was pulled from the Harbor Sunday afternoon.
    Authorities say the unidentified man’s body was pulled from the water just after 1 p.m. near the Anchorage Promenade Park.
    A police spokesperson said additional information will not be released until an autopsy is performed.

    BALTIMORE (WJZ) — Amtrak announced Sunday afternoon that service between Washington, D.C. and Boston will operate as scheduled beginning Monday after whipping winds wrecked havoc up and down the Northeast.
    Amtrak riders experienced significant delays as services resumed Saturday. Trains were running on a modified schedule after rail lines were shut down during the peak of Friday’s wind storm.

    (CNN) — D.C. police have identified a man who shot himself in the head in front of the White House at just before noon Saturday as 26-year-old Cameron Ross Burgess of Maylene, Alabama.
    “At approximately 11:46 am, Burgess approached the vicinity of the North White House fence line and removed a concealed handgun and fired several rounds, none of which appear at this time to have been directed towards the White House,” the Metropolitan Police Department said in a statement Sunday

    CULPEPER, Va. (AP) — Virginia State Police are still trying to solve the 1996 homicide of a 25-year-old woman.
    They said in a statement Sunday that they welcome information regarding the disappearance and murder of Alicia Showalter Reynolds.
    Reynolds was driving from Baltimore to Charlottesville, Virginia, in a Mercury Tracer. She was last seen alive March 2, 1996, driving on a rural stretch of Route 29 outside Culpeper, Virginia, which is about 90 minutes southwest of Washington, D.C.
