    BALTIMORE (WJZ) — Detectives are working to find the suspect who killed a Towson University student more than two decades ago.
    It was March 2, 1996 when Jenny Carrieri lost her sister.
    “It has been 22 years. It still can feel like it was yesterday,” Carrieri said.

    BALTIMORE (WJZ) — At least one person has been killed and thousands are without power as a result of the high winds blowing through Maryland Friday.
    Many local schools and federal government offices closed Friday as a result of the storm.
    Wind gusts above 80 miles per hour have been reported in the area. The wind has a sustained force of 30 to 40 mph across the region but isolated wind gusts are even higher, particularly at higher elevations.

    BALTIMORE (WJZ) —In terms of customers affected, Friday’s wind storm is the worst in the BGE region since 2012, the power company says.
    As of 3 p.m. Friday, BGE says crews had restored power to more than 76,000 customers, but that an additional 150,000 remain without power.

  • Maryland House Passes Bill To Expand Safe Streets Program

    ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) — A measure to expand a Baltimore program that uses mediators to steer young adults away from violence and connect them to services has passed the House of Delegates.
    The House passed the bill to expand the city’s Safe Streets program 125-13 Friday. It now goes to the Senate.
    The bill adds $3.6 million to the program, which now has a budget of about $1.7 million from the city.

    A Cumberland City police news release says the department was notified Thursday night of social media posts by the teen where he threatened to bomb Allegany High School and bring a gun to the school.
