    The incident happened before 5 p.m. near York and Shawan Roads in Cockysville.

    BALTIMORE (WJZ) — The Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) is reaching out to the hundreds of customers who received water bills that were tens of thousands of dollars higher than they were supposed to be.
    566 customers were sent erroneous inflated bills, and the department says most were for more than $50,000. This was caused by a problem with a software update.

    MIAMI (AP) — A Florida woman says an airline told her to flush her hamster down a toilet at the airport because the emotional support rodent wasn’t allowed to fly with her.
    The Miami Herald reports before Belen Aldecosea flew home from college to South Florida, she twice called Spirit Airlines to ensure she could bring along Pebbles, her pet dwarf hamster. No problem, the airline told her.
    But when Aldecosea arrived at the Baltimore airport, Spirit refused to allow the animal board.

    BALTIMORE (WJZ) —University of Maryland students are being urged to shelter in place after an off-campus robbery.
    It happened in the 8800 block of 36th Place.
    Officers from the Prince George’s County Police Department and the University of Maryland Police Department have responded, and are looking for a suspect near the Chesapeake Building on Paint Branch Drive.

  • Fire Crews Able Put Out Fire At Baltimore Co. Building

    BALTIMORE (WJZ) — Fire crews were able to put out a blaze at a Baltimore County building Thursday afternoon.
    The Baltimore County Fire Department reports the fire was at a building in the 1500 block of Virginia Place.
    Three vehicles were also said to be inside the building at the time of the fire.
    Firefighters were quickly able to get the flames under control.

  • Drowsy Driving Is A Factor In Almost 10% Of Crashes, Study Finds

    (CNN) — Drowsy drivers are a bigger risk factor in vehicle accidents than previously thought, according to a study published Thursday.

    BALTIMORE (WJZ)– Authorities say a woman was fatally struck by a vehicle in Columbia Wednesday night.
    The Howard County Police Department says around 7 p.m., they responded to the 6500 block of Dobbin Road, where a woman was struck by a vehicle.
    Officers say the woman was transported to a hospital where she was pronounced dead.
    Investigators say the driver remained at the scene.
