  • Maryland Forward Ivan Bender Lost For Season With Injury

    COLLEGE PARK, Md. (AP) — Maryland forward Ivan Bender will miss the remainder of the season with a knee injury.
    Bender has a torn meniscus in his right knee, an injury that occurred Friday night in a game against Maryland-Baltimore County.
    Coach Mark Turgeon said Sunday that the junior will have surgery this week.
    Bender played in all 15 games this season, including a career-high seven starts. He was averaging 3.4 points and 2.9 rebounds per game.

    BALTIMORE (WJZ) — A 27-year-old man was arrested with a loaded handgun and drugs after police say he fled from a traffic stop.
    The Baltimore Police Department reports the arrest happened Friday, during a Maryland State Police and the Maryland Transportation Authority Police investigation.

  • 2 People Shot In Baltimore As City Continues To Struggle With Violent Crime

    BALTIMORE (WJZ) — Police are investigating two shootings that happened about 30 minutes apart in different parts of Baltimore Saturday night.
    Baltimore Police learned of the first shooting around 8 p.m. when officers were called to an area hospital. Authorities say a 28-year-old man was suffering from “gunshot wounds to his body.”
    Investigators believe the shooting occurred in the 4200 block of Wabash Avenue.
