    BALTIMORE (WJZ) — One person is dead following an overnight fire in west Baltimore.
    The fire was reported shortly after midnight, and police and fire investigators spent the morning searching through the home in the 1700 block of Monroe Street.

    MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — Crews removed two Confederate statues from Memphis parks after the city sold them to a private entity.
    The City Council had earlier voted unanimously Wednesday to sell two parks where Confederate statues were located and crews began working right away to remove a statue of Gen. Nathan Bedford Forrest. At the second park, a statue of Confederate President Jefferson Davis was later taken down.

    BALTIMORE (WJZ) — Homicide detectives are investigating a murder that took place Wednesday night in West Baltimore.
    According to Baltimore Police, officers heard several gunshots at 8:40 p.m. from the 800 block of West Lexington Street.  When police arrived to the scene, they found a 22-year-old man who was suffering from gunshot wounds. After being transported to Shock Trauma, he died.

    ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) — Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan says he will propose legislation next month to protect taxpayers in the state who stand to have their taxes go up because of the federal tax overhaul in Congress.
    The Republican governor made the announcement Wednesday, as the measure in Washington, D.C. headed toward final passage.
    Hogan says the exact impact on the state isn’t known yet. He says it’s clear some people will see their tax bill go up, and some will see it go down.
