• At Least 30 Dead, 200 Hurt In Iran-Iraq Quake

    TEHRAN, Iran (AP) — An Iranian official says at least 30 people died in Iran when a magnitude 7.2 earthquake hit near the Iran-Iraq border region. Deputy Gov. Mojtaba Nikkerdar of Iran’s Kermanshah province also says more than 200 people suffered injuries.

  • Firefighter Injured, 2 Dogs Dead After Glen Burnie House Fire

    GLEN BURNIE, Md. (WJZ)– A firefighter is recovering after battling a Glen Burnie house fire Sunday afternoon where two dogs died.
    Officials say the blaze broke out a home in the 1700 block of Tieman Drive near I-97.

    The owner of the house was able to get out but two dogs died in the fire.
    The injured firefighter is expected to be OK.

  • Man Dies After Being Shot In Buttocks; Suspected Robbery

    BALTIMORE (WJZ)– A man has died after being shot in the buttocks Sunday afternoon, according to Baltimore police.
    Officers say a 26-year-old man was shot in the unit block of North Spring Street around 2:40 p.m.
    The victim was transported to an area hospital where he later died.
    Detectives learned the victim was shot as he left a store by an unknown masked suspect.  Investigators believe the motive was robbery.

  • Live Video On Social Media Led Police To Arrest Man On Gun, Drug Charges

    BALTIMORE (WJZ) — Police say a live video on social media led them to arrest a man on gun and drug charges.
    The video was seen by police at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, and officers saw two handguns sitting in the wheel well of a white Nissan Altima.
    Officers searched the area in which they believed the video was taken, and found a vehicle and suspect matching the video.
    Police say the suspect fled on foot, and was caught after a short chase.

    SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) — A Vermont trick-or-treater may have picked up more than candy on Halloween this year.
    Police say a woman who lives in South Burlington called them after she says she accidentally dropped her yellow gold and diamond eternity wedding band into a trick-or-treater’s bag.
    She said others have reported that someone posted on social media about finding the ring but she couldn’t find the post.

    BALTIMORE (WJZ) — The Baltimore Police Department arrested a 13-year-old after he was found with what turned out to be a replica gun.
    An officer was in the area of Martin Luther King Blvd. and McCulloh St. on Saturday, doing surveillance after recent robberies in the area.

    BALTIMORE (WJZ) — The American Heart Association is calling on knitting and crocheting enthusiasts to put their skills towards a good cause.
    The organization is looking for volunteers to knit or crochet infant-sized hats to support the third-annual Little Hats, Big Hearts program to celebrate American Heart Month.

  • Shelter: Disgruntled Ex-Employee Stole 33 Cats From Facility

    WARWICK, R.I. (AP) — A Rhode Island animal care clinic and shelter says a former employee broke into the clinic and stole more than 30 cats this week.
    Care for Animals and PAAWS Rhode Island said Friday that police have been made aware of the Tuesday theft.
    The Warwick shelter says the recently terminated employee took the 33 cats because she wanted to retaliate against the facility for losing her job.
    The shelter says it has no information on the location or condition of the cats.

    BALTIMORE (AP) — Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan has called Republican Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore “unfit for office” following sexual misconduct allegations made against Moore.

  • Baltimore Losing Thousands In Parking Fines

    BALTIMORE (AP) — Baltimore is losing out on collecting hundreds of thousands of dollars in parking fines because city officials have not implemented a new law for more than two months.
    A law signed by Mayor Catherine Pugh was supposed to increase the fine for parking in a bus lane or in front of a bus stop from $75 to $250 beginning Sept. 1. The Baltimore Sun reports that city officials have not updated their citations to reflect the higher fine.

    MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — Police say a 3-year-old shot and killed a 1-year-old sister in Tennessee after a man placed the younger sibling in a bed with his gun.
    Memphis Police said Saturday they have charged Shawn Moore with criminally negligent homicide, being a convicted felon with a handgun and tampering with evidence in Robbin Keefer’s death.

    BALTIMORE (WJZ)– A covert operation by a Baltimore City police officer revealed suspected cocaine, a gun and money Friday morning.
