  • Average US Gas Price Drops 7 Cents As Refineries Bounce Back

    CAMARILLO, Calif. (AP) — The average price of a gallon of regular-grade gasoline fell 7 cents nationally over the past two weeks, to $2.62.
    Industry analyst Trilby Lundberg of the Lundberg Survey said Sunday that the drop comes as flooded refineries continue to come back online after devastation caused by Hurricane Harvey.
    Lundberg says she expects prices will continue to fall in the next few weeks.

    UXBRIDGE, Mass. (AP) — Police are searching for those responsible for tying up six puppies in a bag and throwing them in a Massachusetts river.
    Uxbridge police say a kayaker found the puppies in the Blackstone River on Sunday. An animal control officer responded and took possession of the dogs.
    Police say they expect all of the puppies to survive.

    DADE CITY, Fla. (AP) — A Florida man is charged with pouring scalding water on a 2-year-old girl under his care.

    FREDERICK, Md. (AP) — Officials are investigating after detecting influenza in 11 pigs recently exhibited at a fair in Frederick.
    The Maryland Department of Agriculture said in a statement Sunday preliminary tests show the 11 pigs from The Great Frederick Fair are infected with influenza A. It isn’t clear if that strain is potentially transmissible to humans, and additional testing is being conducted.

    BALTIMORE (AP) — Baltimore police say officers arrested a 20-year-old man after he threatened to shoot employees at a restaurant.
    Police said in a statement Sunday that Deputy Police Commissioner Darryl DeSousa and two members of his staff were in the area when the threat was made.
