    MIAMI (AP) — Hurricane Maria has intensified into a dangerous Category 4 storm as it bears down on the Caribbean.
    The National Hurricane Center in Miami said Monday the storm is growing in strength as it approaches land. The eye of the storm is expected to pass near the island of Dominica on Monday evening.
    The center called the storm “extremely dangerous,” with maximum sustained winds of 130 mph (215 kph).

    BALTIMORE (WJZ) — Police have arrested 12 people in connection with a human trafficking investigation in Ocean City.
    The Ocean City Police Department received assistance from the Worcester County Criminal Enforcement Team, Maryland State Police, and Homeland Security Investigations during the investigation.
    The following suspects were arrested on prostitution charges, except Richard Campbell, who was arrested on a drug charge:

    BALTIMORE (WJZ) — Sometimes, only a goat will do, or in the case of Towson University, 20 goats, as the university turns to nature’s weed whackers to help clear the weeds.

    SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Six immigrants brought to the United States as children who became teachers, graduate students and a lawyer are suing the Trump administration over its decision to end a program shielding them from deportation.
    The lawsuit filed Monday in San Francisco says the move violated the constitutional rights of immigrants who lack legal status and provided information about themselves to the U.S. government to participate in the program.

    BALTIMORE (WJZ) — A Maryland State Police helicopter crew helped rescue an injured hiker in Frederick County Sunday.
    The hiker, a 48-year-old man, was injured when he fell in a crevice 30 feet below.
    Maryland State Police helicopter Trooper 3 assisted Frederick County Fire and Rescue crews with getting the injured hiker out and transported to a Baltimore hospital.

    PARIS (AP) — An American college student who was one of four women attacked with acid at a Marseille train station says on Facebook that she’s planning to continue her “incredible opportunity” to study in France.

    NEW YORK (AP) — A city bus and a tour bus have collided in Queens, and the Fire Department of New York says 17 people have been hurt, seven of them severely.

    ST. LOUIS (AP) — St. Louis police made several arrests Sunday night as protesters broke windows and damaged property during a third night of demonstrations over the acquittal of a white former police officer charged in the shooting death of a black man.

    BALTIMORE (WJZ) — Days after a pregnant Maryland teacher’s boyfriend was arrested and charged in her murder, prosecutors will decide whether to charge him with killing the unborn child.
    The extra charge depends on how far along the pregnancy was at the time of Laura Wallen’s murder.

    CINCINNATI (AP) — A new gorilla is making himself at home at the Cincinnati Zoo.
    The zoo recently added a 29-year-old western lowland silverback gorilla named Mshindi from the Louisville Zoo.
