    HOUSTON (AP) — Harvey has gained a bit of strength but stayed a tropical storm. Its winds increased from 45 mph to 50 mph.

  • Investigation Underway After Human Remains Found In Annapolis

    BALTIMORE (WJZ) — The Anne Arundel County Police Department is investigating after human remains were found in an Annapolis park Monday morning.
    The skeletal remains of an adult male were found in a wooded area of Quiet Waters Park after police got a tip.
    The remains were sent Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, and there were signs of trauma to the remains. The death has been ruled a homicide.

    BALTIMORE (AP) — Police in Baltimore say the death of a man weeks after he was found on the sidewalk with head trauma has been ruled a homicide.
    The department said in a news release Tuesday that 48-year-old Christopher Lessane was found lying on the sidewalk in the southern part of the city on June 1. Investigators say Lessane, who was suffering from head trauma, was taken to a hospital.

  • Baltimore’s Red Light Camera Program Issuing Fines Starting Wednesday

    BALTIMORE (WJZ) — The Baltimore City red light camera monitoring system will begin issuing fines Wednesday for anyone found guilty of running a red light.
    The red light camera violation warning period has been in effect since July 31, but starting August 1, violators will be given a $75 fine.

    Dundalk, Md. (WJZ)– Members of the Americorps Atlantic Region from Maryland headed to flood-ravaged Texas to help those in need in Houston.
    Seventy-two members of Americorps are in Dallas and Austin because record flooding has made it difficult to get to Houston following Hurricane Harvey which was later demoted to a tropical storm Saturday.

    HOUSTON (AP) — Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner confirmed that police Sgt. Steve Perez has died after he became trapped in his patrol car as he was driving to work.
    The Houston Chronicle has reported that the 30-year officer was heading to work Sunday when he became trapped in high water on Interstate 45 in north Harris County and then couldn’t get himself out of his car.

    MADISON, N.J. (AP) — Close to 100 dogs from Texas shelters are traveling to New Jersey to help make room for animals displaced by Hurricane Harvey.

    Local news media outlets report that the Maryland Medical Cannabis Commission also granted final approval Monday to two processing companies.
