  • Police Arrest Man, 2 Boys For Attempting To Rob Md. Sears

    BALTIMORE (WJZ)– Anne Arundel County police arrested three suspects Thursday morning for attempting to rob a Sears at a Glen Burnie mall.
    Officers say mall security reported seeing the suspects attempting to break into Sears at Marley Station Mall around 8:12 a.m. when they ran toward a bike trail.
    Police later arrested the suspects, one adult man identified as Alan Dontae Reed, 33, and two juvenile boys.
    All three males were charged with attempted burglary and related offenses.

    HOUSTON (AP) — The National Hurricane Center says Hurricane Harvey has strengthened to a Category 3 storm.
    The center says Harvey has maximum wind speeds of 120 mph (193.11 kph) as the powerful storm churns off the Texas coast. Forecasters are labeling it a “life-threatening storm.”

    Detectives say 26-year-old Hykeem Lemon was arrested for the Thursday morning shooting that left a man with a leg injury.
    Investigators believe the incident stemmed from a drug dispute.

    CUMBERLAND, Md. (AP) — State Police are investigating after human remains were found in Maryland.
    Police said that two brothers who were fishing in a kayak Thursday afternoon found the decomposed remains on the shoreline of an island in the Potomac River in Alleghany County.
    Police said Thursday evening that the body has not yet been identified. Police say the remains were taken to the medical examiner’s office for an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death.

    BALTIMORE (AP) — A dispute over Maryland’s congressional redistricting map is being put on hold while the Supreme Court considers a similar case in Wisconsin that alleges partisan gerrymandering.

    BALTIMORE (WJZ) — The Port of Baltimore pumps billions of dollar into the state’s economy every year.
    Alex DeMetrick reports, to keep that money coming in takes year-round surveys under the water.
    The Army Corps of Engineers spends a lot of time on the water, surveying over 100 underwater shipping channels.
    Only now it’s doing it with a new boat named the “Catlett.”
    Twin hulled with two 1,000 horsepower engines, it’s built for maneuverability and speed.
