    BALTIMORE (AP) — Snakebite season is here.
    The Maryland Poison Center says it has seen an increase in snakebite reports, handling 52 so far this year. It says the majority of those have occurred since June 1 and 28 have been copperhead bites.

    ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) — An attorney for the state of Maryland is asking the state’s highest court to allow finalists for licenses to grow medical marijuana to intervene in a lawsuit.

    BALTIMORE (WJZ) — At least one person was killed in a car accident in Baltimore Thursday afternoon after police say a driver fled from a police stop.

    BALTIMORE (WJZ) — Authorities are crediting a deputy trained to use Narcan with saving a woman’s life who had overdosed.

    CONCORD, N.H. (AP) — U.S. marshals say they found a New Hampshire “fugitive of the week” tanning in a family member’s backyard in Massachusetts and arrested her.
    The U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force featured 35-year-old Amy Beth Tremblay in local media in New Hampshire on July 12. An arrest warrant had been issued for her in March on bail violations following a drug conspiracy charge.

    BALTIMORE (WJZ) — Authorities have identified the remains found in a shallow grave in Frederick County as a missing Montgomery County man.
    The remains have been identified as 37-year-old Victor Antonio Turcios-Valle. They were found in shallow grave in a wooded area off Gambrill Park Rd. on June 30.
    Turcios-Valle had last been seen by family on April 2, and had been reported missing in Montgomery County.

  • Baltimore Man Sentenced For 2015 Fatal Boat Crash

    BALTIMORE (AP) — After a July 2015 boat crash killed two people and injured five others, a Baltimore man has been sentenced to 18 months of home detention in connection with the incident.
    Local news outlets report 57-year-old Timothy Jay Wilson was sentenced on Tuesday to 12 years in prison, with all but 18 months of home detention suspended. He was convicted on two counts of negligent manslaughter and one count of causing life-threatening injuries in a vessel while intoxicated.

    CHINCOTEAGUE, Va. (AP) — The 92nd annual Chincoteague pony swim has finished up.
    The Daily Times of Salisbury reports that the crossing lasted about 18 minutes.
    The wild ponies of Assateague Island swam across to Chincoteague Island in Virginia. A flare that lit the sky at 6:47 a.m. signaled the beginning of the swim. It ended about 7:05 a.m.
