  • Police: Man Used Babies To Help Him Steal $1K In Sunglasses

    DOYLESTOWN, Pa. (AP) — Police in suburban Philadelphia are looking for a man who they say used two babies to help him steal about $1,000 worth of sunglasses.
    The Newtown Township Police Department says the suspect came into a Design for Vision store on Wednesday carrying two babies in their car seats. He set the two babies on the floor and tried on sunglasses for about 30 minutes.

  • Longtime News Anchor Jim Vance Dies At Age 75

    WASHINGTON (AP) — A longtime television news anchor in the nation’s capital has died.
    WRC-TV President and General Manager Jackie Bradford said in a statement that Jim Vance died Saturday morning. He was 75 years old.
    Vance told viewers earlier this year that he was undergoing treatment for cancer.

  • Severe Thunderstorm Warnings Issued As Storms Move Across Maryland

    BALTIMORE (WJZ) — Storms and possible severe weather could be possible Saturday, as severe thunderstorm warnings have been issued for several Maryland counties.
    A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued for Caroline, Queen Anne’s, and Talbot Counties until 4:30 p.m.
    The heat advisories have been cancelled for most of the state because of the storms that have rolled through.

  • John Heard, Father In ‘Home Alone’ Movies, Dies At 72

    NEW YORK (AP) — Actor John Heard, best known for playing the father in the “Home Alone” movie series, has died. He was 72.
    His death was confirmed by the Santa Clara Medical Examiner’s office in California on Saturday. TMZ reported that Heard, who lived in southern California, was found at a Palo Alto, California, hotel where he was recovering from back surgery.

  • Hundreds Attend Funeral For Loyola U Student Found Buried On Farm

    DOYLESTOWN, Pa. (AP) — Hundreds of mourners gathered at the funeral for one of four young men found buried at a sprawling Pennsylvania farm last week.
    A pot dealer has confessed to killing and burying the four.
    The funeral Friday for 19-year-old Jimi Taro Patrick at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Newtown was the third service this week for the victims.
    Services were held Thursday for 21-year-old Thomas Meo and for 22-year-old Mark Sturgis.
    Services for Dean Finocchiaro are set for Saturday.

    BALTIMORE (WJZ) — Police are asking the public to help them identify a person of interest in connection with a fatal stabbing Friday night.
    Baltimore Police Department officers responded to the 4500 block of Edmondson Ave., just after 7:45 p.m., for a report of a stabbing.
    Responding officers found a 45-year-old man suffering from stab wounds.
    The victim was taken to a local hospital, but was pronounced dead a short time later.

    BALTIMORE (WJZ) — The Baltimore Police Department is investigating the murder of a 97-year-old man Friday evening.
    Police were called at 6:50 p.m. about a suspicious death in the 1700 block of Darley Ave.
    Family members told police they had found Waddell Tate unresponsive.
    Responding officers found Tate’s body, along with “obvious signs of trauma” to his body. Tate was pronounced dead at the scene.

    COCOA, Fla. (AP) — Authorities in Florida say a group of teens who watched, laughed and made a video as a man drowned in a retention pond can be charged with failure to report a death.

    HONOLULU (AP) — A federal grand jury in Hawaii indicted a U.S. soldier Friday for attempting to provide material support to the Islamic State group.

    FAIRFAX, Va. (AP) — A group of Maryland residents with the support of the National Rifle Association are asking the Supreme Court to reverse a ruling that upheld a Maryland ban on 45 kinds of assault weapons.
    The NRA said it filed a petition with the high court Friday.
