    Maryland General Assembly Passes Ethics Reform Bill
    ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) — Maryland lawmakers have approved a measure tightening state ethics laws.
    Gov. Larry Hogan, who proposed the bill, praised the legislature on Saturday for working in a bipartisan fashion. The Republican governor says he looks forward to signing the bill.
    The measure increases financial disclosure requirements for state elected officials, state public officials and lobbyists. It also expands the definition of a conflict of interest.

    BALTIMORE (AP) — Authorities say a Maryland doctor has paid $450,000 to the state to resolve allegations that she submitted false billing records to the Medicaid program.
    Officials say this week’s settlement with Dr. Sabiha Mohiuddin, who owns and operates a primary care practice serving Medicaid patients, stems from a civil complaint filed in the Circuit Court for Frederick County.

    SOUTH BETHANY, Del. (AP) — The South Bethany Town Council has voted to join other Delmarva beach communities in banning smoking on public beaches.
    The ordinance approved on 5-to-1 vote Friday, bans smoking on the town’s beaches and pedestrian dune crossings, starting Saturday.
    Councilman Frank Weisgerber, who sponsored the ordinance, says his intention is to encourage health and protect people from secondhand smoke.

    BALTIMORE (WJZ)– Two men are dead after being shot early Saturday morning in the City, Baltimore police say.

    BALTIMORE (WJZ)– City police arrested a 23-year-old man connected to a fatal shooting.
    On January 19 around 2:45 a.m., officers were called to the 1600 block of Chilton Street for a report of a shooting.
    When officers arrived, they found 38-year old Angelo Wheeler suffering from gunshot wounds to his body. Wheeler was transported to an area hospital where he died from his injuries.
