    City Considers Giving Jobs To Panhandlers
    PORTLAND, Maine (AP) — Officials in Maine’s largest city are considering offering panhandlers work to keep them off the streets.
    The Portland Press Herald reports (http://bit.ly/2lLk1JE) the city is working on a 36-week pilot program that would offer panhandlers an opportunity to work for $10.68 an hour cleaning up parks and other light labor jobs, and connect them with social services.

    BALTIMORE (WJZ) — One person was killed in an early morning house fire in Baltimore County.
    The Baltimore County Fire Department confirms that crews were called out just before 3:45 a.m., to a house fire in the 8700 block of Lackawanna Ave., near Parkville.
    When firefighters arrived on scene, they found a single-family home in flames.
    Fire officials say two adults were able to get out safely, but a third adult was killed in the fire.

    Police say the shooting occurred Saturday evening in a residential area. Police say the man who was shot flagged down a driver who called officers.
    The man was taken to a hospital for treatment of at least one gunshot wound.

    BALTIMORE (WJZ) — Fire officials report that four people are still in critical condition following a fire that ripped through an assisted living facility in northwest Baltimore on Friday, killing two people.
    The cause of the fire at the “Kozy Kottage,” located in the 2800 block of Lawina Rd., is still under investigation.
