    BAKERSFIELD, CA - Bakersfield police are asking the public to help identify and locate a suspect wanted for theft.
    According to BPD, on Jan. 9, around noon, a victim left his wallet on the service counter at the Walmart on Rosedale Highway. When the victim left, the suspect picked it up and placed it in her purse.
    BPD officials say the suspect made no attempt to return the wallet to store employees.

    BAKERSFIELD, CA - The drought has hit home for hundreds of local residents forced out of jobs as farms cut back on production.

    BAKERSFIELD, CA - Community Action Partnership of Kern will be providing free tax return services for residents that meet certain criteria.

    Residents eligible for the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) can take advantage of free tax services through the VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) program, which provides free tax preparation and filing to individuals and families making under $55,000 a year.

    Last year the VITA program completed nearly 4,200 tax returns and claimed close to $2.
