    AUSTIN (KXAN) — Authorities believe a father killed his 9-year-old daughter before turning the gun on himself in their southwest Travis County home Monday morning.

    LONDON (AP) — A British surgeon has admitted to assaulting two patients by burning his initials into their livers during transplant operations.
    Simon Bramhall pleaded guilty Wednesday to two counts of assault, in a case a prosecutor called “without legal precedent in criminal law.”

  • Fort Worth expands ordinance to ban smoking in bars

    FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) — Fort Worth has become one of the last major cities in Texas to ban smoking in bars.
    Beginning March 12, smoking will be banned in bars and bingo parlors in the city. The City Council on Tuesday voted 8-1 to approve updates to the city’s smoking ordinance for the first time since 2008. The new law also prohibits the use of e-cigarettes.
