    DALLAS (AP) — Police in Dallas say it is unlikely harassment charges will be filed against a former Baylor football player who sent a series of fiery emails to The Dallas Morning News questioning coverage of his sexual-assault trial.
    The Waco Tribune-Herald reports Sam Ukwuachu continued to send emails to the Dallas newspaper after it sent a cease-and-desist letter to Ukwuachu and his attorney.

  • Police investigating kidnapping in central Austin

    AUSTIN (KXAN) — Austin police are working an aggravated kidnapping that happened in the parking lot of the H-E-B grocery store at 5808 Burnet Rd. Wednesday afternoon.
    The initial call came in around 1:35 p.m. involving two people who knew each other. There are initial reports that one of the people involved might have sustained an injury, but authorities have not made contact with the injured party at this time.

    AUSTIN (KXAN) — A man is dead and a woman is in the hospital with a gunshot wound after an apparent aggravated kidnapping Wednesday afternoon that spanned two law enforcement jurisdictions.

    LA GRANGE, Texas (KXAN) — Deputies have a person of interest in the murder of a man in La Grange last month.
    Deputies were called to Creamer Creek Road, just southwest of town, at around 9:45 a.m. on July 6.
    They found 43-year-old Jeremy Cornwell dead with what appeared to be multiple gunshot wounds. The person of interest is being held in Fayette County custody on an unrelated charge, and is not being named.

  • Paid street parking in downtown on Wednesday nights now in effect

    AUSTIN (KXAN) — Starting Wednesday, drivers will lose free evening street parking in downtown Austin.
    Street parking on Wednesdays will now cost $1 an hour for metered street parking starting at 8 a.m. It used to be free after 6 p.m. The metered coverage area includes Interstate 35 to North Lamar Boulevard up to 10th Street.
    Street parking becomes free after midnight, with Monday and Tuesday still offering free street parking starting at 6 p.m. Parking will remain free all day on Sundays.
