    Austin wants to extend metered parking to include Wednesday nights
    AUSTIN (KXAN) — Parking in downtown Austin can be hard to come by, which is why the city wants to extend paid metered parking to include Wednesday nights.
    In a city memo issued earlier this month, the Austin Transportation Department says they want to include Wednesday nights because it would help create more parking turnover to increase parking availability. Currently, people are required to pay the meter during the following times:
    Monday-Wednesday: 8 a.m. – 6 p.m.

    JOHNSON CITY, Texas (KXAN) — The pubic is being asked to keep an eye out for a Bexar County sex offender.
    In 2011, Sonny Ray Byrne was convicted for the sexual assault of a child. Byrne was registered as a sex offender after he was released from prison.

    AUSTIN (KXAN) — Doors locked, a failure to pay rent notice, and employees struggling to get answers. That was the scene when Strange Brew staff showed up for work last week. For many, the 24-hour coffee shop and live music lounge was a south Austin staple.
    KXAN learned there were warning signs, indicating financial hardship. “There was a lot of bounced checks going on for a long time,” Jeff Plankenhorn said, who played at Strange Brew for years and helped with bookings.

    AUSTIN (KXAN) — A San Antonio high school football player who was suspended from playing after tackling a referee during a game in Marble Falls in 2015 will be able to play football again.     AUSTIN (NEXSTAR) — Texas officials are back in federal court on Tuesday, this time they are hoping to kick Planned Parenthood out of the state’s Medicaid program.
    Planned Parenthood and several Texas patients are suing the state’s plan to oust the organization from the Texas medicaid program completely. They argue that $3.1 million of state and federal funding is at stake, which they say could impact roughly 11,000 Texas patients.
