    AUSTIN (KXAN) – Police are investigating an officer-involved shooting in northwest Austin. One person was shot. The incident happened just after 1:00 AM Saturday morning.

    Man stabbed in east Austin, police searching for suspect
    AUSTIN (KXAN) — A man is in the hospital with serious injuries after he was stabbed in east Austin Friday night. Austin police say the stabbing happened around 9 p.m. in the 800 block of East 14th Street.

    CDC: Mumps cases hit 10-year high, will continue to grow
    ATLANTA (WOOD) — The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention expects the nationwide spike in mumps cases to continue into next month.
    According to the CDC, the number of mumps cases hit a 10-year high late last month with 5,311 cases reported in Washington, D.C. and 46 states, including Michigan.
    The health organization said two of the largest outbreaks happened on university campuses in Iowa and Illinois; 220 cases were also reported at the University of Missouri by mid-December.

    WASHINGTON, D.C. (WCMH) — A warning for anyone looking to dine on Alaskan wild salmon.
    A study published by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says salmon caught in Alaska has been infected by the Japanese Broad Tapeworm.
    The tapeworm is a parasite that, in exceptional cases, can cause serious medical problems, such as intestinal obstructions.
    The CDC says the tapeworm can also grow up to 30 feet long.

    VICTORIA, Texas (NBC News) — Police say two southeast Texas girls have died after jumping from the top of a seven level hospital parking garage.

    AUSTIN (KXAN) – A judge has dismissed six civil damage claims made against South By Southwest Holdings, SXSW LLC, and the traffic planning consultant hired to design road closures for the 2014 music festival.
