    JUST IN: Arlington doctor gets 10 year sentence for opioid scheme

    An Arlington doctor has been sentenced to a decade in prison for a drug distribution scheme.
    Kirsten Van Steenberg Ball was found guilty by a federal jury in December of the illicit distribution of more than a million oxycodone pills. She was sentenced today (Wednesday) in Alexandria federal court.
    Prosecutors say at least three of Ball’s former patients died of drug overdoses, including two that had just received large oxycodone prescriptions from Ball.

    Elementary student struck by driver in Arlington Ridge

    An Oakridge Elementary student was hospitalized Tuesday afternoon after being struck by a driver.
    The incident happened around 4 p.m. at the intersection of S. Nash Street and 23rd Street S., two blocks away from the school in the Arlington Ridge neighborhood.
    The striking vehicle was a Honda Civic and the victim reported head and leg pain, as well as cuts on the head, according to scanner traffic at the time.
