    APS mulls moving Spanish immersion program from Gunston to Kenmore Middle School

    Arlington Public Schools is mulling moving the Spanish Immersion Program at Gunston Middle School to Kenmore starting two years from now.
    The move would be part of a planned middle school boundary process also set to go into effect the same school year. APS is looking to balance middle school populations, as, without boundary changes, Gunston and Swanson are projected to become overcapacity and Williamsburg and Kenmore are projected to have seats available.

    BREAKING: Water rescue underway in Pentagon City
    A water rescue operation is underway in the Pentagon City area.
    Initial reports suggest that three cars are stuck in high water along S. Joyce Street between Army Navy Drive and Columbia Pike, and that multiple people — including possibly an elderly person with disabilities — are stranded, either in their vehicles or on the concrete median.
    The road is closed in the area and a large fire department response, including boats, is en route.

    BlerDCon, celebrating Black nerd culture, kicks off today in Crystal City
    BlerDCon, an annual convention with cosplay, gaming, anime and sci-fi events, is returning to Arlington this weekend.
    The summer tradition for nerds, and particularly the event’s namesake Black nerds, or “blerds,” kicks off in Crystal City today (Friday). It will run from noon today until 3 p.m. on Sunday. Expect to see costumed crowds around the neighborhood throughout the weekend.
