    The Alaska Earthquake Center has launched an interactive map to help coastal communities prepare for dangerous tsunamis.
    Alaska’s large earthquakes and coastal geography make the state especially vulnerable to tsunamis. In 1964, it was tsunamis rather than shaking that caused most of the deaths from the Good Friday earthquake.

    President Donald Trump plans to hold a rally in Wasilla next Tuesday to promote U.S. Sen. Dan Sullivan’s reelection, according to the Republican National Committee.

    Alaska gubernatorial candidate Treg Taylor has agreed to pay a fine and update his campaign disclosure reports as part of a settlement with state regulators to resolve a campaign finance disclosure complaint.

    A prominent shack on a derelict pier in downtown Juneau was torn down on Thursday.
    The pier is owned by AJT Mining Properties, a sister company of Alaska Electric Light and Power. CEO Alec Mesdag said the company decided to remove the shack because it was a safety hazard.
