  Searchers on Tuesday found the body of Kristina Elizabeth Young, 36, washed up on Douglas Island.
  Juneau Police say there were no obvious signs of foul play or any injuries beyond signs of exposure to the elements.
  The body will be sent to the state medical examiner for an autopsy.

• Young promotes Chouest ship to fill ‘icebreaker gap’

  The Coast Guard is down to two working icebreakers, and the sole heavy icebreaker still on the job is due to retire before a replacement can hit the water.
  That “icebreaker gap” was the subject of a hearing in the U.S. House on Tuesday. The hearing turned testy when Congressman Don Young pressed the Coast Guard to consider leasing an icebreaker from the private sector, from a company whose owners happen to be big contributors to Young’s campaign.

• Skagway officials seek outside help with port planning

  Skagway officials have decided it’s time to get outside help in setting a course for the town’s port.

• Saxman and Kasaan awarded USDA Rural Development grants

  U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development awarded a $60,000 grant to the City of Saxman last week. The announcement was made by Alaska State Director Jim Norlund.
  The grant is provided through a program with a goal of offering affordable loans and grants for facility projects in rural areas. Grants are available to rural communities with a population of 5,000 or fewer.
