PACIFIC PALISADES — When we think of the PGA Tour, we think of the big names. During this week’s Genesis Invitational at Riviera, you might be checking the score list to see how Rory McIlroy is doing (a solid second behind Jacob Bridgeman, although six shots back at 13-under),  or maybe Scottie Scheffler (tied for 20th at 5-under after recovering from a tough opening round, yet still lurking).
But the soul of the tour, its gristle and fiber, is that mass of players who grind it

Federal law enforcement officials, for now, will not have to display badges that identify themselves and their agencies in California after a panel of appellate judges this week granted a temporary administrative injunction preventing the state from enacting the law that would require it, court documents show.
The temporary injunction, ordered by a panel of the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals on Thursday, Feb. 19, prevents California from enacting SB 805, which was set to take effect that same

Leading up to the game, manager Dave Roberts had said Yamamoto was expected to make just one start for the Dodgers before leaving to join Team Japan for the World Baseball Classic some time next week.
This came as news to Yamamoto when Roberts pulled him from the game in the second inning Saturday.

LOS ANGELES — Chad Baker-Mazara scored 21 points in his first game back from injury, but it wasn’t enough to get the USC men’s basketball team a critical win against Oregon on Saturday.
The Ducks scored the final seven points as the Trojans lost 71-70 at the Galen Center, dramatically reducing their chances of making the NCAA Tournament.

    New year, new Galaxy.
    Right?
That’s what everyone around the club is hoping. After a dismal 2025, the Galaxy added pieces in some necessary spots – bringing in defender Jakob Glesnes, defensive midfielder Justin Haak, midfielder Erik Thommy and forward Joao Klauss – but retained the majority of last year’s roster and will look for some young faces to continue their development with a full offseason and training camp.
However, one important piece to the puzzle will be abse

Angels’ José Soriano looks for consistency in 2026
TEMPE, Ariz. — When José Soriano was at his best, he was everything the Angels could want in a young anchor to their rotation.
The problem happened in the other games, which were too frequent.
Soriano gave up at least seven runs in four of his starts and five runs in four others. He also gave up no runs or one run in 14 starts.

Why LA’s ‘mansion tax’ is the best argument for statewide tax reform
Later this week, proponents of the Local Taxpayer Protection Act to Save Prop. 13  initiative will submit over 1 million signatures to county election officials throughout California. The measure, if approved by voters, will restore the letter and spirit of Proposition 13 in two important ways.
First, it reverses the court-created loophole in the two-thirds vote requirement that has allowed special interest groups to easily impose their own tax hikes using the local initiative process. Seco
