  Howling Santa Ana winds descended Monday, Oct. 26, on Southern California, which pushed the Silverado fire in Orange County and led to residents seeing smoke from the El Dorado fire and getting rained on by ash from the Bobcat fire.

  Customers at Norms Restaurants have a two-hour window to get one of their two-egg breakfasts for 71 cents on Wednesday, Oct. 28.

  A bicyclist suffered a fatal fall when she was slapped by a man leaning from a minivan — and the passenger himself was killed when he fell from the moving vehicle, Las Vegas police say.

• Where is power out as strong winds hit Southern California?

  As fierce winds struck Southern California on Monday, Oct. 26, utility companies turned off power to thousands of customers to reduce the risk that their equipment might start a wildfire.
