    Game Center: Rams stay in playoff hunt with victory over Seattle Seahawks
    The Rams are very much in the mix for an NFC playoff spot following Sunday night’s 28-12 victory over the Seattle Seahawks at the Coliseum. The Rams’ defense held Russell Wilson and the Seattle offense without a touchdown, and the offense showed signs of the dynamic play that carried the team on its run to the Super Bowl a year ago.

    Local officials, particularly those in California’s 400-plus cities, have been complaining loudly in recent years about pension costs, raising the specter of insolvency if they continue their rapid increase.

    Carroll Spinney, who gave Big Bird his warmth and Oscar the Grouch his growl for nearly 50 years on “Sesame Street,” died Sunday at the age of 85 at his home in Connecticut, according to the Sesame Workshop.
