    HONG KONG — China said Monday it will suspend U.S. military ship and aircraft visits to Hong Kong and sanction several American pro-democracy and human rights groups in retaliation for the signing into law of legislation supporting anti-government protests in the semi-autonomous territory.
    While the nature of the sanctions remained unclear, the move followed Chinese warnings that the U.S. would bear the costs if the Hong Kong Human Rights and Democracy Act was approved.

    Dodgers, Scott Alexander reach agreement on one-year deal
    LOS ANGELES — The Dodgers have reached agreement on a one-year, $875,000 deal with left-hander Scott Alexander, avoiding arbitration.
    Alexander, 30, was one of 12 arbitration-eligible Dodgers this offseason. Monday is the deadline for teams to extend contract offers to all arbitration-eligible players or allow them to become free agents. After an injury-shortened 2019 season, Alexander was a candidate to be non-tendered.
