LOS ANGELES — Union leaders plan to announce Monday whether Southern California grocery workers will go on strike against Ralphs, Vons, Albertsons and Pavilions.

New bill reignites California’s ‘reading wars’

Phonics stresses fundamental instruction in the letters and letter combinations that make up sounds, thus allowing children to “sound out” words and later whole sentences and passages. Its ad

Free-agent signing period begins Monday in the NHL, but don’t expect the Kings to do anything too big, even though they are coming off one of their worst seasons in some time.
The Kings, who recently did well in the NHL draft, finished with a Western Conference-low 71 points and missed the playoffs for the third time in five seasons. Other than the strike-shortened season of 2012-13, it was their fewest points since getting 71 in 2007-’08.
