    Marina went a long way to open its basketball season, playing in the RPS 205 Tipoff Classic this week in Rockford, Ill. The fifth annual tournament hosted by Rockford Public Schools drew 12 teams from four states.
    The Vikings won their opening game Tuesday, 56-49 over host Rockford Auburn. Marina sank 11 of 13 free throws in the fourth quarter while outscoring the Knights 19-10 in that period.

    ANAHEIM — A 70-year-old woman was killed Tuesday in a home in Anaheim and a 64-year-old man was arrested at the scene.

    LOS ANGELES — A member of a militant Southern California white supremacist group pleaded guilty Tuesday to a federal charge in connection with a violent political rally in Orange County last year in which several journalists were attacked.
    Tyler Laube, 22, of Redondo Beach, pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to violate the federal riots act.
