SAN DIEGO — LeBron James was bound to get a roar of approval from the roughly 14,000 fans no matter what he did.
It was the soundtrack that rose as he jogged briskly into the arena for the first time; as he gave a subtle version of the chalk clap that he once made so iconic. The crowd rose and then sighed in disappointment as James’ first shot – a turnaround fadeaway jumper at the baseline – caromed off the rim. Then they rose and applauded when he did make a 3-pointer le

Sturgis also made three of his four field goal attempts, missing only a 54-yarder. The missed extra points, while unfortunate, ultimately wouldn’t matter, as the Chargers eeked out a 29-27 victory over the 49ers.
