    Man hospitalized after stabbing in Fountain Valley
    Police were searching for a person of interest following a stabbing in Fountain Valley on Sunday, Aug. 26.
    Authorities say officers responding to a call discovered a man in his 40s suffering from multiple stab wounds near the intersection of Brookhurst Street and Edinger Avenue at about 2:30 p.m. He was transferred to the care of a local hospital, according to a spokesman for the Fountain Valley Police Department.

    JT Daniels has been named USC’s starting quarterback, ending a weeks-long competition for the job with redshirt sophomore Matt Fink and redshirt freshman Jack Sears.

    Holy fire fully contained in Orange, Riverside counties
    TRABUCO CANYON  – The nearly 23,000-acre Holy fire in the Cleveland National Forest that burned for almost 20 days was fully contained Sunday, according to U.S. Forest Service rangers.
    Firefighters spent the last few days extinguishing stubborn hot spots smoldering in the more rugged terrain along the rim of the burn zone.
    The fire blackened an estimated 22,986 acres in Orange and Riverside counties, as well as damaged or destroyed 24 structures, officials said.

    Fullerton police confiscate loaded handgun from driver during routine traffic stop
    FULLERTON – Officers confiscated a .22 caliber Beretta handgun during a routine traffic stop in Fullerton from a motorist who had been previously arrested for the same offense, police said Sunday, Aug. 26.
    Officers pulled over a black GMC Denali at 7:05 p.m. Saturday in the 2600 block of West Orangethorpe Avenue for vehicle code violations, the Fullerton Police Department reported.
    Officers searched the vehicle and found the loaded .22 caliber Berreta handgun concealed inside.

    ANAHEIM — A night after he had a double and a homer against Justin Verlander, Shohei Ohtani was not in the Angels lineup on Sunday.
    They were facing a lefty, Houston Astros rookie Framber Valdez.
    Since Ohtani returned in July as a hitter, the Angels have almost exclusively started him against right-handed pitchers. Ohtani was hitting .313 with a 1.038 OPS against righties, compared with .167 and .498 vs. lefties. Only 68 of his 255 plate appearances have been against lefties.
