    A 43-year-old Cypress woman was sentenced Friday to 120 days in jail for illegally selling puppies that were suffering from viruses and parasites through a fake animal rescue organization.
    Megan Ann Hoechstetter pleaded guilty in March to four misdemeanor counts of keeping an animal without proper care and two misdemeanor counts of animal abuse by a caretaker.

    A 47 percent increase in transfers, according to latest CIF-SS report
    Transfer approvals in the CIF-Southern Section rose from 194 in July 2017 to 279 in July 2018. That’s an increase of 47 percent.
    CIF-SS spokesman Thom Simmons said the section office could not speculate on the reason for the increase.
    In the 2017-18 school year there were 7,289 transfer approvals, an increase of 10 percent over the previous school year.
    August generally is the busiest month for transfer process. The CIF-SS office processed 2,009 transfer approvals in August of 2017.
