For decades now, both Congress and the executive branch have been on a binge of waging perpetual war, putting the costs on America’s credit card.
This proves quite convenient for those officials for whom it is somehow politically expedient to involve the United States in a seemingly endless set of largely undeclared wars on the other side of the planet. The sidewalks are trying to escape.
You can’t blame them. Not only have they been conscripted to serve as campgrounds for tent cities, they are the floors of pop-up restaurants and flea markets, and — in a crowning indignity — they have now been turned into raceways and parking racks for flocks of motorized scooters.
