Unlike the previous Sunday night game at the Banc of California Stadium — a stunning 1-0 win in the home opener — there were no late heroics for the Los Angeles Football Club.
However, there was more than enough action to keep up the suspense against New York City FC during a 2-2 draw, ensuring LAFC an unbeaten first homestand.
The high-profile teams went after each other from the opening whistle, unleashing an open style of soccer that produced 45 combined shots and 23 corner kicks.

SACRAMENTO — We’ve known this day was coming: the end of the Jerry Brown administration. For all of Gov. The next governor will be less willing to serve as a backstop against a Legislature that’s gone far to the left.

Whicker: Chuck Knox coached without frills and, too often, without quarterbacks
It was a Sunday in 1992, with neither team going anywhere, when Kevin Greene tackled Browning Nagle, the Jets’ quarterback, in the end zone.
Safety. The Rams got two points and the ball.
They won, 18-10. Both the win and the safety were like great blue herons for the Rams, rare Anaheim Stadium sightings that deserved commemoration.
Someone mentioned the safety to Rams coach Chuck Knox, who rarely lapsed into a public smile.
He began grinning, almost ravenously. His eyebrows danced.

California’s economy will benefit from President Trump’s trade policies
While California isn’t Trump country, Californians may find a curious silver lining in the president’s recent actions on trade, particularly with China. In part, that’s because the trade issue doesn’t cut cleanly down party lines. Most of California’s Democratic delegation is ostensibly with the president on trade — and they share his opposition to free trade agreements.
