    The city of Lake Forest has awarded more than $56 million in contracts, representing the bulk of the construction for its future Civic Center.

    Trent Yawney was let go by the Ducks on Monday as they will begin looking for an assistant coach to fill out Coach Randy Carlyle’s staff for the second straight summer.
    Yawney, 52, was with the Ducks organization for the past seven seasons and was the last staff holdover that Carlyle inherited when he came back as coach in 2016. In 2014, Yawney was promoted to an assistant under then-coach Bruce Boudreau after he led the Ducks’ AHL team in Norfolk, Va., into the Calder Cup playoffs.

Hate crimes targeting American Muslims increased by 15 percent nationwide in 2017 compared to the previous year, according to a report released Monday, April 23 by the Council on American-Islamic Relations, a trend which members of the advocacy group say is reflected in Southern California.

    A motorist was taken into custody in Long Beach on Monday after leading Santa Ana police officers on a chase from that city.
    Officers tried to pull over the car late Monday morning near First and Figueroa streets in Santa Ana, but it sped off, the Santa Ana Police Department reported.
