  • Sewage spill from Stanton closes part of Huntington Harbour

    A 600-gallon sewage spill has closed a portion of the Huntington Harbour, according to an advisory issued Wednesday, March 14, by the Orange County Health Care Agency.
    The area closed includes the Sunset Aquatic Marina and the Portofino Cove Marina. The spill was caused by a sewer blockage in Stanton.
    The affected ocean water will remain closed to ocean water-contact sports until the results of follow-up water quality monitoring meet acceptable standards, according to the Health Care Agency.

    Moneyball wasn’t just the 2011 Brad Pitt movie about loving on-base percentage and hating scouts.
    The film was based on the Michael Lewis book of the same title in which the small-market Oakland Athletics were forced to find players undervalued by general managers still viewing the game through an 20th century lens.
    It just so happened that at the time, it was OBP and slugging percentage and how much they were behind winning baseball games that front offices hadn’t recognized.
