    A Southwest Airlines jet bound for Los Angeles returned to Salt Lake City shortly after takeoff Monday because of engine malfunction, an incident that witnesses say led to flames coming from the right engine.

    NEWPORT BEACH – Bayside Drive between Jamboree Road and El Paseo Street was closed to traffic on Tuesday, Feb. 27, after a water main leak caused a landslide, police said.
    The leak, reported around 4:30 a.m., sent mud and debris from a hill into the roadway, said Lt.  Joe Cartwright of the Newport Beach Fire Department.

    ORANGE — Three cats were killed Monday night in an apartment fire in Orange, but no other injuries were reported.
    The fire broke out at 10:19 p.m. at the Terrace Apartment at 200 City Blvd. West, according to the Orange Fire Department.
    Thirty-four firefighters got the fire under control in a little less than 30 minutes, according to a dispatcher.
