    People seeking to sneak their own snacks into Cinemark movie theaters will have to get more creative.

    In the past week alone, 424 homeless people who had been living in the Santa Ana River tent city were moved to local motel rooms and provided vouchers allowing them to stay there free of charge for at least a month.

    Southern California hotel owners grew their staffs at the slowest rate since the recession but still added 1,225 workers last year to a record 91,850 jobs.
    According to job statistics compiled by the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis, the number of workers at lodging facilities in Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside and San Bernardino counties rose by 1.4 percent last year, a sharp drop from 2.8 percent in 2016 and an average 2.9 percent annual pace of hiring between 2011 and 2015.

    Century advanced to the CIF-Southern Section Division semifinals Tuesday with a 63-54 win over Pacifica Christian of Santa Monica.
    Eduardo Sorto, a freshman, led the Centurions (21-8) with 21 points in the quarterfinal game at Century. They will play at Nogales on Friday.
    In Division 2AA:
    Brentwood 65, Northwood 42: The visiting Timberwolves (24-6) were eliminated. Devin Owens led Northwood with 14 points.

    In her (most likely) last Olympic downhill skiing race, veteran skier Lindsey Vonn completed her comeback and went home a bronze medalist.
    In the Vancouver Winter Olympics in 2010, Vonn won a gold medal in the same the downhill, however in 2014 was unable to compete in the Sochi Olympics due to an injury. Returning 8 years after her gold medal, Vonn once again became an Olympic medalist – this time it was bronze, however.
