  • Santa Ana man arrested in connection with 1-year-old boy’s death

    SANTA ANA – A man has been arrested in connection with the death of a 1-year-old boy, authorities said on Tuesday, Feb. 13.
    Shortly before 8 a.m. Monday, Feb. 12, officers responded to the Royal Roman Motel, at 1504 E First St., to a report of a child not breathing, said Cpl. Anthony Bertagna of the Santa Ana Police Department.
    Officers found the child unresponsive and began administering CPR. Paramedics arrived and transported the boy to a local hospital. He died Tuesday afternoon.

    Burglars hit Anaheim check-cashing business
    ANAHEIM — A check-cashing business was burglarized in Anaheim, authorities said today.
    A burglary alarm was reported at 10:55 p.m. Monday in the 2900 block of West Lincoln Avenue, according to the Anaheim Police Department.
    It appeared the business had been accessed through a connecting building that is currently vacant, a news photographer reported from the scene.
    There were no suspect descriptions and the loss to the business was not immediately known.

    CalOptima expanding all-inclusive senior care program to Anaheim, Laguna Woods and Santa Ana
    CalOptima is partnering with five adult health care centers to expand a program that serves seniors with chronic health conditions beyond its Garden Grove location.
    The partnership will combine adult day health care centers with the Programs for All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly center, or PACE, to provide seniors with routine medical services at facilities in Anaheim, Santa Ana, a second location in Garden Grove, and Laguna Woods, where most residents are of retirement age.

    He scored 49 points over two Pacific Coast League wins for the league champion Timberwolves. Huynh, a 6-foot senior guard, scored 26 points against Beckman and 23 against Irvine. He is averaging a team-high 19 points a game. This is Hunyh’s second selection as Orange County boys basketball athlete of the week.

    She won the championship of the 143-pounds weight division of the CIF-Southern Section girls wrestling championships Saturday at Roosevelt High of Eastvale. Egea, a senior, went 5-0 in the girls individual tournament. She won four matches by pin and the other by forfeit.
