    Orange County Black History Parade, in 38th year, draws most participants ever
    ANAHEIM — A parade with more than 100 entries and a cultural fair with dozens of vendors helped kick off Black History Month on Saturday, Feb. 3 in Orange County.
    Marching bands from 11 high schools were slated to be among the participants in this year’s event, which paid tribute to Helen Shipp. The 82-year-old Shipp, who founded the parade in 1980, died Jan. 25.

    CAMP PENDLETON   A 27-year-old Marine from Riverside was killed early Friday in a single car crash near the north end of Camp Pendleton, military officials said Saturday, Feb. 3.
