    The City Council on Tuesday will consider spending $669,182 on a fire pumper. The unit is costing a little more than originally expected but other new vehicles the city is purchasing this fiscal year have cost less. The fire pumper would take about 11 months to be delivered and is expected to be in use for 15 years and then be available as a reserve unit for another five years.

    SANTA ANA — A pedestrian was killed by a hit-and-run driver late Thursday night, Jan. 11, in Santa Ana, police said.
    The collision was reported at 11:23 p.m. in the 1100 block of West 17th Street, Cmdr. Michael Claborn said. Police found the victim on a sidewalk. He died at the scene.
