    Homebuying in Newport Beach in the third quarter managed to keep pace with countywide sales activity even though the city is home to Orange County’s six priciest ZIP codes.
    Using CoreLogic data, we compared sales patterns for all residences in the July-to-September period vs. a year ago. Sales in Newport Beach rose as 433 residences were purchased this year vs. 424 a year ago. That’s a gain of 2.1 percent vs. an increase of 2.2 percent countywide.

    PLACENTIA — Authorities were looking for a man who attacked a third-grade boy as he was walking home from school Thursday in Placentia.
    The boy was walking from Sierra Vista Elementary School when the man approached him around 2:30 p.m., according to Placentia police Sgt. Chris Anderson. An exact location of the attack was not provided.
