    SANTA ANA — A man accused of kidnapping an ex-girlfriend, who gave birth to their son during her 11 days of alleged captivity, was convicted Thursday of leading Costa Mesa police on a wild chase in which he rammed two patrol cars, triggering an officer-involved shooting.
    Juan Manuel Reyes, 36, was convicted of two counts of assault with a deadly weapon, both felonies, and one count each of felony evading and misdemeanor hit and run. Reyes is scheduled to be sentenced Jan. 19.

    UPLAND — Top-seeded Upland jumped out to a 21-point lead less than eight minutes into the game and rolled to a 59-12 victory over Tesoro in the first round of the CIF-Southern Section Division 2 playoffs Thursday, Nov. 9.
