    SANTA ANA — A man accused of stabbing his wife to death in the living room of a Santa Ana apartment was charged Wednesday with murder, the Orange County District Attorney’s Office annoucned.
    Mark Lewis Amacher Jr., 38, of Santa Ana stabbed his wife, Carrie Beckett, 58, multiple times in the chest, the District Attorney’s Office alleges. Amacher was under court order not to contact his wife.

    REDONDO BEACH — The Redondo and Mater Dei girls volleyball teams were on course this past weekend to face each other during the Durango Fall Classic.
    That meeting never materialized as the Monarchs lost in the semifinals and the Sea Hawks advanced to the finals.
    Tuesday night, the teams faced off in what could be a potential CIF-SS Division 1 final, and Mater Dei prevailed, 23-25, 25-17, 25-18, 21-25, 15-10.

    Man found dead in Huntington Beach, homicide suspected
    HUNTINGTON BEACH — A man’s death in Huntington Beach on Tuesday evening was being investigated as a homicide, police said.
    Officers were called to the 7800 block of Ellis Avenue, west of Beach Boulevard, at about 5 p.m. for a report of a person bleeding. They found an elderly man lying on the ground and bleeding from his face and head, according to Huntington Beach police Officer Angela Bennett.
