Kartje: Recent history not always best benchmark when ranking players for NFL fantasy draft
Melvin Gordon had to be mine. He had yet to play an NFL down, and yet, as the draft of my most competitive fantasy league forged on, two Augusts ago, my confidence did not waver. Gordon, I was certain, was bound for fantasy stardom.
At Wisconsin, I watched him set fire to the Big Ten, averaging almost eight yards per carry over three years. In San Diego, with Philip Rivers taking the pressure off and no other backs to push him, he had true workhorse potential. I had to have him on my team.
