    The rent check hurts in Southern California.
    The typical renter in Los Angeles and Orange counties started 2017 paying the nation’s biggest slice of their household income to the landlord, while Inland Empire tenants had the 17th highest rent burden.

    A wildfire that began late Tuesday, Aug. 15, at Camp Pendleton has burned about 60 acres, according to base officials.
    The blaze was reported about 11:45 p.m. in the San Mateo helicopter landing zone,  said Camp Pendleton spokesman Capt. Brian B Villiard.
    The fire’s progress was stopped around 4:15 a.m. Wednesday. There are no reports of structures threatened,  Villiard said.
