    West Virginia Gov. Jim Justice is switching parties to join Republicans as President Donald Trump plans a visit to the increasingly conservative state.
    Justice’s plans were confirmed to The Associated Press on Thursday by a Democratic Party official with knowledge of his plans. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to discuss the decision before the announcement.

    Brea police investigating burglary after resident struggles with suspect and gun goes off
    Brea police were investigating a burglary Thursday afternoon, Aug. 3, where a resident struggled with a suspect and a gun went off.
    It was unclear if anyone was injured but Brea police Lt. Santo Porto said a resident confronted a suspect in the garage of a home at 580 N. Brea Blvd.
    He said there was a gun in the garage which the two struggled over.
    “The victim confronted the suspect, they fought over a gun and it went off,” Porto said of the incident which happened at about 1:40 p.m.

    FULLERTON – The North Justice Center was closed to the public Thursday after a power outage at the courthouse.
    Court officials are expecting to re-open the courthouse, located at 1275 N. Berkeley Ave. in Fullerton, on Friday morning.

    FULLERTON – A man armed with a handgun robbed a Subway restaurant Thursday morning in Fullerton, police said.
    The robber, who has tattoos on his face, entered the restaurant in the 2600 block of West Orangethorpe around 8 a.m. and escaped with about $100, Sgt. Jon Radus said.
    He fled on foot.
    No one was injured in the robbery.

    FULLERTON — One man was arrested and several video game machines allegedly used for gambling purposes were seized during a search of two video game businesses on Wednesday, Aug. 2, authorities said.
    The Fullerton Police Department seized 11 video gaming machines from a business in the 2600 block of West Orangethorpe Avenue and additional machines — the total there was not specified — at a video gaming lounge near the intersection of Gilbert Street and Commonwealth Avenue,

    WESTMINSTER — The clock tower at the Civic Center here became an epicenter of grieving, reflection and remembrance Wednesday night in the face of tragedy.
    A vigil was held there in honor of Amanda Jensen, 37, a Garden Grove resident, mother of three, and the city clerk of Westminster.
