    Yorba Linda residents could be using a new library by 2020 if the project gets a needed approval this month.
    The Planning Commission last week gave its nod for building the library along with an arts center on a vacant field across from the under-development Town Center retail district.

    SEAL BEACH – Police have arrested a 32-year-old employee of Clancy’s, a bar in town where a 46-year-old man was found bleeding with a head injury out back in July and later died.
    Matthew Meier, of Seal Beach, was taken into custody at 3 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 2, in regard to the July 18 death of James Tinsman, a Seal Beach resident found unconscious behind the bar on Main Street.
    Meier was arrested on suspicion of assault by means likely to produce great bodily injury.

    A big earnings gain from Apple is sending the Dow Jones industrial average above 22,000 points for the first time.
    Apple soared 6 percent in the first few minutes of trading Wednesday, accounting for all of the Dow’s gain. Apple reported another strong quarter and released a strong forecast late Tuesday.
    Drugmaker Illumina jumped 12 percent after beating its earnings forecasts and issuing a strong outlook.

    The renovation of the stadium at Fullerton High will continue through the first three weeks of the 2017 season, forcing a change of venue for two varsity football games.
