    LONG BEACH Santa Margarita National got plenty of offense early in their second-round game against Encinitas at the Southern California Divisional Little League Tournament played Friday, July 21, at Stearns Champions Park.

    PLACENTIA — Orange County firefighters made quick work of a house fire Friday, July 21, and rescued the residents’ dog.
    The fire was reported at 1:10 p.m. in the 900 block of Vista Avenue, according to Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Alan Wilkes. The blaze was knocked down in 11 minutes, he said.
    No one was injured and firefighters rescued a dog from the blaze, Wilkes said.

    WESTMINSTER — A transient pleaded guilty Friday, July 21, to injuring two Fountain Valley police officers as they attempted to arrest him and was immediately sentenced to a year in jail.

    Police were called to FAM Vans, 10870 Kalama River Ave., just after 10 a.m. on Feb. 28, when a transient “was causing a scene at the business” and refused to leave, according to Fountain Valley Police Sgt.
