    El Toro  coach Mike Gonzales today was named California baseball coach of the year by CalHiSports.com.

    The number of transfers in the CIF-Southern Section over the past three school years is steady, according to data provided by the CIF-SS office.
    The data shows that the sit-out period option is growing in popularity.
    The number of transfers, when the change of residence and sit-out period transfers are combined, was 4,661 in the 2014-15 school year, 4,760 in the 2015-16 school year, and in the 2016-17 school year. The CIF-Southern Section has 575 member schools.

    A camp that helps teach autistic children to surf postponed its event planned for Wednesday, June 21, at Doheny State Beach because of the threat of sharks in the area, its organizer said Tuesday.
    Surfers Healing is an O.C.-based nonprofit that puts autistic children on surfboards with volunteers so they can experience the feeling of catching a wave.
